In this webinar, speakers Garry Kendellen and Maria Vittoria Marra introduce us to the world of rock pools and sponges.

Gary touches on the relationship between rockpools, the intertidal zone of the seashore, and the communities that live there. He introduces the term cultural ecosystem services describing how natural environments have social benefits, contributing to physical and mental health, reconnecting us with nature while helping to future-proof society in the face of wider environmental risks. Maria Vittoria Marra tells us all about sponges of a wide variety of shapes and sizes and colours. Sponges, as she explained, are animals made up of a bunch of cells that draw water through pores in themselves, leading to their latin name Porifera.
